We are pleased to once again celebrate the outstanding work that Haringey’s volunteers, local charities and community groups offer our community at our Community Impact Awards 2021. 

We would like to invite you to be part of this by making your nominations and helping us to showcase and recognise these inspiring people, projects and initiatives. 

In addition to a trophy and framed certificate, winning organisations will also receive a £250 award. The winner of "Outstanding Community Organisation of the Year" will receive a £500 award.

The winners will be announced at this year’s Haringey Community Expo 2021taking place online on Thursday 25 November 2021. 

Nominations for the Community Impact Awards will close at 5pm on 29 October 2021. 

Categories 

  • Outstanding Community Organisation of the Year 
    If your community group or organisation has gone above and beyond to make an outstanding impact in your community, in any area of work – this category is for you. This could include, but is not limited to, reinventing or adapting your core services as a result of the pandemic, embracing digital and developing innovative approaches, setting up responsive services to tackle emerging community needs. 
  • Inclusion and Equalities Organisation of the Year 
    If your community group or organisation is working tirelessly to help building a fairer and more equal society, and to make sure everyone feels safe and included - this category is for you. 
  • Community Organisation Newcomer of the Year 
    If your community group or organisation have been set up no more than 3 years ago and have already achieved a great impact in the community – then this category is for you. 
  • Hero Volunteer or Team of the Year 
    If you know a volunteer or team of volunteers that have showed outstanding efforts and selfless commitment to improving the life of residents and the local community - nominate them for this category. 
  • Haringey Giving Funded Project of the Year 
    If your community group or organisation is doing and exceptional work and have received Haringey Giving funding between November 2020 and October 2021 - this category is for you. 
  • Community Impact School of the Year 
    If your school have an extracurricular project in which teachers and students work together to improve your local community – this category is for you.

Community Impact Awards 2021 - FAQ  

Who can be nominated? 

Any voluntary organisation or community group that is formally or informally constituted delivering services in Haringey can apply for an Award. The beneficiaries of the service provided by the group must be Haringey residents. 

If nominating a volunteer, the nominee must be a Haringey resident and not paid for the role undertaken. If nominating a team of volunteers, the team must be supporting Haringey residents and not being paid for the role undertaken. 

Who can make a nomination? 

We encourage community groups to nominate themselves and/or their volunteers. Also, any individual that has benefited from the work of the group/volunteer can make a nomination. 

I am a previous winner; can I still nominate?   

Yes! Nominations from previous winners are welcomed. 

Can I make more than one nomination?  

Yes, there is no limit of submissions per individual/organisation. 

How do I submit my nomination? 

In order to be considered for an award in any category you must fill out this form. After completion, you will receive an email for us confirming your nomination. If you have further questions, please email [email protected] 

What is the closing date for nominations? 

Nominations will close at 5pm on 29 October 2021. 

How will the entries be judged?   

We want to hear what you have accomplished this year and what difference you made to the community. We’ll pay special attention to stories that showcase:

  • Co-production  how your organisation involved residents, service users and beneficiaries in the design and delivery of services
  • Partnerships – how your organisation worked together with others to deliver better services 
  • Resilience – how your organisation overcome challenges brought by the pandemic 
  • Innovation – how you’ve set up responsive services with new approaches to tackle community needs 
  • Outcome – what you have achieved and your impact in the community 
 Who decides the finalists and winners? 

The panel for each award category consists of a:

    • Representative from voluntary and community sector 
    • Representative from Haringey Council  
    • Local resident 
    When will I know if I have been shortlisted? 

    All award nominees and nominators will be notified by 22 November 2021. 

    How does the public voting for the category Outstanding Community Organisation of the Year work?

    At the live awards ceremony, the public will take part in live polling in which they will vote and choose the winner between the shortlisted organisations. Please note that Outstanding Community Organisation of the Year is the only category that will be decided by public voting.

    About the Community Impact Awards 

    The Haringey Community Impact Awards, organised by The Bridge Renewal Trust in partnership with The London Borough of Haringey, are given annually to grassroots community groups and voluntary organisations that have combined effective community service with innovative and sustainable practices to improve the lives of Haringey residents. The Awards are part of a wider event, the Haringey Community and Voluntary Sector Expo.
