Chestnuts Community Day Success

Posted by: admin on August,1st,2016

On Thursday 28th July, over 500 people attended Chestnuts Community Day – an event organised by the Bridge Renewal Trust to bring residents and voluntary organisations of South Tottenham together. During the morning, voluntary organisations were given the opportunity to attend various workshops organised by Community Impact Haringey. Geoffrey Ocen – the Bridge Renewal Trust’s Chief Executive – also delivered the annual communities report detailing the Bridge Renewal Trust’s plans for the coming year. The Mayor of Haringey was also in attendance and spoke of the day reflecting Haringey as an ‘inclusive multicultural borough’. During the afternoon, after gaining a better understanding of the voluntary sector, people took part in various activities that were on offer. Many families brought their children who took advantage of face painting and the bouncy castle. Overall, it was an immensely successful day and as one lady stated, helped ‘integrate people into the community’. Indeed, Rachel Hughes –  chair of trustees echoed these sentiments on the day by stating that, ‘it was fantastic to welcome so many people to the Chestnuts Community Centre for such a special occasion’. The Bridge Renewal Trust would like to thank all those who made the day possible including stall holders and volunteers.
