Over 700 people attended the Chestnuts Park Fest last Saturday 20th July 2019, at Chestnuts Park and Community Centre. The free Summer festival enabled people to access services from different community organisations from across the borough and enjoy a sunny day in their local park. This year, the event included the Bridge Renewal Trust’s celebration of 10 years working with local communities to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in Haringey.

Chestnuts Park Fest

It was an amazing day of fun activities for young and old, including live music performances, dance and community stalls. The public enjoyed presentations on the stage and free services provided by our community partners. People tried out a range of health and wellbeing activity taster sessions such as tennis and gym coaching, free blood pressure checks, zorbing and zumba

Rachel Hughes, Founder Chair of the Bridge Renewal Trust said, ‘The event was a great success! Thank you to all our partners for making it such an exciting day and to all our supporters over the last 10 years.’

As part of the celebration, special guests gave speeches including the Mayor of Haringey, Cllr Sheila Peacock, Catherine West MP, Joanne McCartney AM, Deputy Mayor of the Greater London Authority, Cllr Mark Blake, Haringey Cabinet Member. Awards were given in recognition of the good work of the Bridge’s volunteers during the 10-year period.

In addition, a special guest Paralympiad Vanessa Wallace dropped in along with professional coaches to help the community to stay healthy and fit.

This event was hosted by the Bridge Renewal Trust and co-organised with One You Haringey, in partnership with Haringey Council, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, Fusion Leisure and a wide range of local community organisations.
