Tottenham Talking is a community based mental health project run in partnership between the Bridge Renewal Trust and Barnet Enfield Haringey Mental Health Trust. We are a peer led group programme for people with personal lived experience of mental health distress. We aim to provide support to people by effectively facilitating service user involvement and empowering people through encouraging their self-development.

Through Tottenham Talking we offer a diverse range of workshops and activities to promote the following:

  • The development of new skills
  • Building routine
  • Social cohesion
  • Engagement in meaningful groups
  • Connectivity with the community
  • Regular goal setting

We recognise and appreciate that these benefits contribute towards the sustainment of people’s wellbeing and believe everybody has the right to lead fulfilling lives as part of their community.  We understand the wide-reaching benefits for our service users as well as the wider community.

We are aware that productivity contributes to a sense of mental wellbeing and encourage people to remain active in ways that occupy them and stimulate their interests. Our peer support workers are passionate about the work we do and share their skills with the following relevant social and interpersonal skills and considerations:

  • Encouragement
  • Compassion
  • Empathy
  • Patience
  • Respect

We empower people with platforms for self-expression through the following activities:

  • Art therapy
  • Creative Writing
  • Cooking and Baking
  • Drama
  • Physical Exercise
  • Poetry
  • Dance and Music Appreciation
  • Black and Asian Men’s group

These activities/groups are held online or face to face in a variety of locations around Haringey.
