At the Community Impact Awards, we celebrate and recognise inspiring people, projects and initiatives from our communities.

Join us in this celebration! We would like to invite all Haringey community groups to apply for an award.

This year, you are welcome to put forward your organisation, service or project for an award. Please check the new categories below. Winners will receive a certificate and a trophy.

Winners will be announced in an awards ceremony at our annual Haringey Community Expo 2022, taking place on Thursday 1 December 2022.

At the ceremony, there will be a special public vote to choose the winner of the “Outstanding Community Organisation of the Year”, which will be chosen amongst the winners of the other nine categories.

Applications for the Community Impact Awards have closed at 5pm on Monday 7 November 2022.

Categories

Health & Wellbeing

If your community organisation or project aims to improve the health and wellbeing of Haringey residents – this category is for you.

This could include, but is not limited to: sports and physical activities, healthy eating, mental health support, prevention programmes, and others.

Community Safety

If your community organisation or project aims to help keeping everyone safe – this category is for you.

This could include, but is not limited to: violence reduction programmes, safeguarding, hate crime, and others.

Arts & Culture

If your community organisation or project is encouraging residents to take part in artistic activities, explore their creativity and develop their art – this category is for you.

This could include, but is not limited to: music, painting, theatre, films, circus, and others.

Green & Sustainability

If your community organisation or project focuses on environmental action and increasing awareness of more sustainable practices – this category is for you.

This could include, but is not limited to: increasing climate change awareness, environmental conservation, reuse and recycle materials, reduce waste, use of eco-friendly technologies, and others.

Community School Project

If your school have an extracurricular project in which students work together to improve your local community – this category is for you.

This could be any project in which teachers, families and students work together, such as awareness raising initiatives, food banks, community gardens, and others.

Haringey Giving Funded Project of the Year

If your community group or organisation is doing and exceptional work and have received Haringey Giving funding since September 2021 - this category is for you.

Inclusion & Equalities

If your community group or organisation is working tirelessly to help building a fairer and more equal society, and to make sure everyone feels safe and included - this category is for you.

This could include projects, services or organisations working in any thematic area, but you will need to showcase in your application how inclusion and equalities is in the core of your provision.

Working in partnership

If your project involves two or more organisations working together to improve the lives of Haringey residents – this category is for you.

To be eligible, all organisations must be involved in the design and delivery of the activities, and you will need to provide details of this joint work in your application.

Hero Volunteer or Team of the Year

If your organisation would like to recognise a volunteer or team of volunteers that have showed outstanding efforts and selfless commitment to improving the life of residents and the local community – this is the right category to do it!

Winning organisations from the other 9 categories will be in the run for this special award. The winner will be decided by public vote during the ceremony. Come along to vote for your winner!

 

Community Impact Awards 2022 - FAQ 

Who can apply to win an award?

You can put forward your organisation, service or project for an award. The beneficiaries of the service provided by the group must be Haringey residents. Your organisation should be not for profit.

If nominating a volunteer, the nominee must be a Haringey resident and not paid for the role undertaken. If nominating a team of volunteers, the team must be supporting Haringey residents and not being paid for the role undertaken.

Who can make an application?

Community groups are welcomed to apply to be considered for an award. Also, any individual that has benefited from the work of the group can also make a nomination.

I am a previous winner; can I still apply?  

Yes! Applications from previous winners are welcomed.

Can I apply for more than one category? Can I put forward more than one project from my organisation?

Yes, there is no limit of submissions per organisation. In fact, applying for more than one award increases your chances to win!

Additionally, if your project is a good fit for more than one category, feel free to tick more than one box when completing your application.

How do I submit my nomination?

In order to be considered for an award in any category you must fill out this form. After completion, you will receive an email for us confirming your application. If you have further questions, please email [email protected] 

What is the closing date for applications?

Applications will close at 5pm on Monday 07 November 2022.

How will the entries be judged?  

We want to hear what you have accomplished this year and what difference you made to the community. We’ll pay special attention to stories that showcase:

• Co-production – how your organisation involved residents, service users and beneficiaries in the design and delivery of services
• Working with others – how your organisation worked together with others to deliver better services
• Resilience – how your organisation overcome challenges brought by the pandemic
• Innovation – how you’ve set up responsive services with new approaches to tackle community needs
• Outcome – what you have achieved and your impact in the community

 Who decides the finalists and winners?

The panel for each award category consists of a:

• Representative from voluntary and community sector
• Representative from Haringey Council
• Local resident

When will I know if I have been shortlisted?

All award nominees and nominators will be notified by Monday 28 November 2022.

How does the public voting for the category Outstanding Community Organisation of the Year work?

At the live awards ceremony, attendees will take part in live polling in which they will vote and choose the winner between the shortlisted organisations. To participate you will need to bring your mobile phone with you. Please note that Outstanding Community Organisation of the Year is the only category that will be decided by public voting.

The Haringey Community Impact Awards, organised by The Bridge Renewal Trust in partnership with The London Borough of Haringey, are given annually to grassroots community groups and voluntary organisations that have combined effective community service with innovative and sustainable practices to improve the lives of Haringey residents. The Awards are part of a wider event, the Haringey Community and Voluntary Sector Expo.
