What is it?

It is a project that is funded by the Big Lottery Community Fund, that aims to help people living in and around the Tiverton estate to get more active and healthier by providing opportunities for people to play sport and take part in fun fitness class and help for families who want support to make healthy lifestyle changes.

We hope that by providing these opportunities and support we can empower people to better manage and improve their health and wellbeing.

Can I volunteer? Health at the Hut volunteers and staff team at the Tiverton Community Day June 2019

Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, refresh old ones, meet new people and give back to the community. We have lots of volunteering opportunities and roles available, some require regular commitment while others can be more flexible. At the moment we work with a group of amazing volunteers, but we are always looking for extra people who wish to lend a helping hand!

For more information about our volunteering opportunities please complete the Volunteer Registration form or email us to find out more.

What people say...

[email protected] was recommended to me by some of the women who come to my slimming world class. Each week we walk to the circuit class after our slimming class has finished. Coming to the class has helped me to lose weight. I will definitely keep coming”.

“My GP referred me to join the chair-based fitness classes because I have high blood pressure and I weigh a bit more than I should. Attending [email protected] classes have helped me because I got more active, I feel a lot fitter and I’ve lost a bit of weight which has helped my knees.

“As a full-time working mum of 2 children, I found it hard to cook quick and healthy meals for the family after coming home from work. We would often have unhealthy takeaway or microwave meals. Coming to the cooking classes has helped the whole family - I’ve learned how to make quick healthy meals for the family, the kids are doing better at school, we’ve been able to spend time together as whilst having fun and learning about healthy eating and I made new friends”.
