We provide support for families who want to make healthy lifestyle changes with a wide range of activities from group gardening sessions to healthy cooking and eating. Participants get the opportunity to improve their cooking skills and share a meal with their family and new friends.

Healthy Cooking Sessions

At the Bridge Community Hut, we offer free healthy cooking sessions to help parents and children to eat well and prepare nutritious meals. The sessions are delivered throughout after school hours from 3.30pm to 6.30pm enabling the children and parents to be involved in producing a variety of dishes made from fresh ingredients.

A wide variety of skills and techniques are used and developed throughout the sessions, and the dishes made and sessions delivered included: food preparation safety including using how to use sharp knives and kitchen equipment, preparing simple recipes including bread making, cupcake baking, icing and decorating session, pastry session, how to cook various vegetable and meat dishes, pizza making session, cookies, making smoothies, apricot bread and a variety of simple healthy deserts.
