Over 150 people attended the different activities which formed this year’s Haringey Community Expo event – held over Zoom on Thursday 25 November 2021.

This year our Expo was divided into three separate events across the day, including breakfast networking, a workshop discussion on Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), and the Community Impact Awards ceremony.

The day started off with a fun and productive breakfast speed dating event to connect people working within the voluntary and community sector to each other and colleagues from the Council and the NHS.

In the afternoon, as we marked the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, people from across the borough came together in our Community Workshop Discussion to look at ways we can work together to help keep women and girls safe in Haringey. This event included a message from the Domestic Abuse Commissioner for England and Wales, which you can watch here.

Following this introductory speech, discussions were facilitated by the frontline organisations Hearthstone, Nia, Standing Together, Victim Support and London Black Women’s Project. You can see here some of the key points from the discussion.

The day ended with our Community Impact Awards ceremony which recognised the fantastic work done by the voluntary and community sector over the last year. In the live ceremony the public had the chance to vote for the winner of Outstanding Community Organisation of the Year and this year, CARIS Haringey won!
